YAK GREEN collaborates with Thai Tree Transplant Trade Association to foster Thai agricultural innovation “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
This business philosophy is considered crucial in creating participation in both business and society. Today, the example of YAK GREEN Company Limited, or as international partners know it, “YAK GREEN”, a Thai company making strides on the international stage with steady steps and always moving forward.
“Academic forum to establish standards for exporting Thai plants in the global market”
A big task cannot be accomplished alone. “YAK GREEN” has a mission to increase green areas in this world by operating a large-scale tree farm business with the potential to export worldwide. The aim is to create and develop sustainable businesses for Thailand’s agricultural sector and communities, as well as to open new doors of opportunity for Thai investors to support and participate in international business. Of course, such work requires genuine knowledge in what is being done, systematic communication and mobilization, as well as the ability to connect networks in both the public and private sectors, both in Thailand and abroad.
“YAK GREEN: Thailand’s role model in adding value to trees for the Middle Eastern market”
On Monday, August 26, 2024, the Thai Tree Transplant Trade Association hosted a meeting to discuss the production standards for export-quality trees at the Forestry Research Center, FORTROP Meeting Room, 3rd Floor, 60th Anniversary Forestry Building, Faculty of Forestry, Kasetsart University. The meeting included Mr. Nattawat Klangsap, Director of the Forestry Research Center; Asst. Prof. Wichian Putthasri, President of the Thai Tree Transplant Trade Association; and Mr. Raksa Suninthabun, Executive Chairman of the Eastern Elephant and Forest Conservation Community Enterprise Group. Over 30 agricultural entrepreneurs, community enterprises, academics, and business professionals interested in the association’s network engaged with YAK GREEN Co., Ltd. as a leader in Thai tree production and export to the Middle East at an industrial scale.
The Thai Tree Transplant Trade Association invited Mr. Olan Weranond, CEO and Co-Founder of YAK GREEN Co., Ltd., along with expert co-founders of YAK GREEN, namely Assoc. Prof. Paron Chatakul, Landscape Service Director and Co-Founder and Aj.Apitan Lee, Production Directors and Co-Founder to share experiences and exchange knowledge on creating standards for the tree export business and building partnerships in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Bahrain. Mr. Olan and his co-founding friends of YAK GREEN have seen the opportunities and importance of the GCC region since 2018, expanding relationships and cooperation networks in both public and private sectors until becoming a group of companies that operate comprehensive tree farm businesses and related ventures.
“Exchange, learn, implement, and continuously develop all processes”
“I would like to commend YAK GREEN Company Limited for executing everything excellently, progressing much further than many expected, and doing very well in bringing the Thai tree business to a global level. I want to see serious cooperation between the association and YAK GREEN for the benefit of the Thai agricultural sector and Thailand as a whole,” summarized Mr. Satya Sri-on, Vice President of the Thai Tree Transplant Trade Association and Director of the Rak Thai Foundation, who shared his opinion at the meeting.
**”A big task can’t be done alone. We need to build Team Thailand to compete globally”**
Mr. Olan Weranond, CEO and Co-founder of YAK GREEN, summarized his important views: “This is a global-level task. We don’t aim to compete with anyone in Thailand; we compete with ourselves and constantly improve. This market share is something Thailand has never had before. We want to expand this market share for Thailand globally. Therefore, it’s not about dividing the cake from anyone, but creating a new cake, expanding economic opportunities and international trade for Thailand’s agricultural sector and tree planting together. When competing globally, we must develop ourselves to be world-class as well. We need to develop from farmers to ‘Agripreneurs’ – innovative agricultural entrepreneurs. Tree planting must have a system, be efficient to both increase product quality and reduce costs, as well as create a unique selling point for Thai trees.
Therefore, we use knowledge in business, marketing, technology, innovation, landscape architecture, modern agriculture, the King’s philosophy, and continue to conduct research and development. We are currently working on several issues, and there are many more dimensions that require partners to work together. So today, we share knowledge fully with farmer groups, organizations, and community enterprises that want to work with us. We also create learning courses through the Phol Yak School that we established to transfer knowledge and create agricultural jobs and careers for related people who become our partners. Therefore, if there’s anything we can do together that’s a Quick Win and WIN-WIN-WIN, meaning we, our partners, and Thailand all benefit together, we’re always happy to do so.”
“Sappan wood: A miraculous plant with many benefits that wild elephants don’t eat or destroy”
In addition to exchanging knowledge with YAK GREEN Co., Ltd., the Eastern Elephant and Forest Conservation Community Enterprise Group (POM), led by Mr. Raksa Suninthabun, Executive Chairman of the Community Enterprise, also introduced participants to an economic herb plant with opportunities in many dimensions: “Sappan,” a miraculous plant with many benefits that wild elephants don’t eat or destroy. It is ready to be processed into various products that may have opportunities for expansion in many aspects. The meeting participants and YAK GREEN Co., Ltd. were informed and tried “Raksas” SPARKLING herbal drink, which tastes good and has interesting properties.
Summary: The opportunity to participate in the meeting with the association and see the progress of YAK GREEN Co., Ltd. today is another admirable model of driving the tree business and agricultural sector by Thai private groups, working together with the government, academic sector, and civil society excellently.
