Due to the rising tensions between Israel and Iran, the Royal Thai Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand are concerned for Thai nationals staying in areas that may be directly affected. As such, Thai Embassies in the region have been instructed to monitor the situation in the region closely.
Thai nationals in the region are urged to stay alert and follow announcements and advice from Thai Embassies closely. The Royal Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv has already issued a warning to Thai nationals living there to prepare for possible emergency situations and can be contacted directly for any related assistance.
Other Thai nationals are strongly urged to avoid traveling there if not deemed urgent or necessary at this time.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been monitoring events with regard to the current situation in the Middle East and reports of rising tensions between Israel and Iran, and has instructed Embassies in the region to continue to follow and assess this unfolding situation closely.
Thus far, our Royal Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv has alerted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the announcement by the Israeli authorities regarding the numerous drone and missile attacks on Israel, their readiness to prepare for and deter such attacks and the issuance of safety guidelines that are in effect from Saturday, 13 April 2024 at 23:00 hrs. until Monday, 15 April 2024 at 23:00 hrs., limiting the number of gatherings in various parts of the country, according to the situation in that specific area.
Currently, there are approximately 28,000 Thais residing in Israel and approximately 300 in Iran. The Royal Thai Embassies in Tel Aviv and in Tehran are in constant contact with the Thai communities there to update them on developments in the situation. At this time, there are no reports of Thai nationals in Israel or Iran being directly impacted or injured by the current situation.
Thailand is very concerned about the current unfolding situation in the Middle East and asks that all parties exercise the utmost restraint so that the situation does not deteriorate further, as it will inevitably have an impact on innocent civilians. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to follow developments closely and will coordinate with the relevant agencies on further assistance to Thai nationals in the affected areas.
